The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety conducted a safer back to school operation in Thabazimbi CBD on January 27, 2026, focusing on learner transport safety.
The operation, carried out by 12 officers, checked a total of 86 vehicles, comprising 2 busses, 75 taxis, and 7 SUVs.
During the operation, 13 summonses were issued for various offences, including permit conditions and Professional Driving Permit (PRDP) infractions.
During the stop and search different vehicles, 10 vehicles were impounded, consisting of 2 busses, 5 taxis, and 3 SUVs.
In a separate operation in the Capricorn District, the Department’s scholar transport operation continued at Seleteng Ramphele in the Mphahlele area, resulting in the impounding of 15 vehicles: 4 busses, 4 minibuses, 2 LDVs/bakkies, and 5 seven-seaters.
These enforcement actions underscore the Department’s commitment to prioritizing learner safety and enforcing compliance within the transport sector.
The Department urges all scholar transport operators to prioritize learner safety and regularize their operations.
