According to SAPS statement: Mangaung Police Station Social Crime Prevention, Community Police Forum (CPF) and #AntiGangUnit, visited Motheo FM to conduct crime awareness campaign.
Sergeant Ntswaki Phandliwe, Sergeant Mkhuzangwe and Mr. Itumeleng Moore discussed different types of crimes and functions of the police.
Awareness was created around Domestic Violence (DV), Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), assaults – both common & with intention to cause grievous bodily harm (GBVF), theft and damaging/destroying and tampering of essential infrastructure (#CableTheft).
The identified hotspot areas are Moshoeshoe Road, Mangengenene cemetery, Joe Slove and Namibia Square.Sergeant Mkhuzangwe from the Anti-Gang Unit, discussed factors contributing to gangsterism, crimes related to gangs and the dangers of facing serious criminal charges.
Mr. Moore explained the functions of #CPF, and the role played by community-based crime prevention structure governed by CPF constitution.
