The Ba-Phalaborwa Municipal Council formally adopted and approved the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), Budget, and Tariff Book for the 2026/2027 financial year during a council meeting held today, Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
The approved 2026/2027 budget is designed to consolidate the progress achieved during this council term while responding decisively to the financial and service delivery realities currently facing the municipality.
In the 2026/2027 financial year, the municipality will prioritize the implementation of the following projects:
Electrification of 70 households at Prieska, Upgrading of electricity infrastructure in Phalaborwa Town;
Upgrading of the Honeyville to Dinoko Sebera Road from gravel to tar, Upgrading of gravel roads to asphalt from Aubrey Car Wash via Cemetery to Kanana;
Upgrading of gravel roads to asphalt from the Clinic via ZCC in Ward 2, Upgrading of gravel road to block-paved road from Humulani Clinic to PMC;
Installation of a stormwater culvert at Shitshitwe and Upgrading of gravel roads to asphalt from Nkateko High School to Pondo Combined School.
The municipality will also continue to implement projects funded through the Municipal Disaster Response Grant, aimed at restoring and improving damaged infrastructure within affected communities.
The following projects are currently in progress:
Ward 14: Rehabilitation of the Derrick Nyathi Bridge;
Ward 03: Selwane Graveyard;
Ward 19: Upgrading of road via Gaza Primary (gravel to block paving);
Ward 05: 2400 Zone B (upgrading from gravel to block paving);
Ward 19: Rehabilitation of Presbyterian Church Street and Lutheran Church Street;
Ward 04: Rehabilitation of Sebala Magolo High School Street; and
Ward 16: Upgrading of Matiko Xikaya Road (gravel to block paving).
