Makhaza Police have cesead Two firearms from Five male suspect aged between 25 and 32

Makhaza Police members were patrolling in the Makhaza area on Thursday, 23 April 2026, at around 21:00.

As they were approaching the corner of Gqolomba and Hlanga Crescent, they noticed a blue VW City Golf parked on the side of the road.

The members stopped and proceeded to conduct a vehicle search, resulting in five males, aged between 25 and 32, who were in the car, being arrested for two prohibited firearms with ammunition that were found.

The five male suspects will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court once they have been charged.

In a separate incident, a 22-year-old male was arrested for the possession of a prohibited firearm in Parkin Court, Lavender Hill at approximately 23:30 on Thursday, 23 April 2026.

The arrest came after Steenberg Police members saw him standing in the street with a firearm in his hand.

When he noticed the police, he tried to run but was eventually caught by the members and arrested accordingly.

He will make his first court appearance in Athlone Magistrate’s Court once charged[after final investigation]
