Limpopo Police officers At it again this festival season under #Operation shanela

The Police in Limpopo Province have put total number of 1 525 suspects through a high-density operation, #OperationShanela, Over the weekend.

The operation was planned/carried out through roadblocks, stop-and-search operations, tracing operations, high-visibility disruptions, and crime awareness campaigns.

According to SAPS statement: Suspects were arrested for various offences, including illegal possession of firearms [04], illegal possession of ammunition [3], possession of dangerous weapons [24], dealing in drugs [11], failure to keep records of second-hand goods [01],

Possession of illicit cigarettes [2], illegal dealing in liquor [84], possession of counterfeit goods [4], possession of drugs [61], aggravated robbery such as Armed robbery [1], business robbery [1], robbery at a residence [3], attempted murder [3], murder [7], rape [21], assault GBH [102], common assault [101], illegal migrants [384], driving under the influence of alcohol [99],

Malicious damage to property [43], theft of or from a motor vehicle [3], residential burglary [15], illicit mining [45], and other crimes [496].

The recovered and confiscated items include alcoholic beverages (liquor) amounting to 1 730.43 litres, ammunition of various types (114), cash amounting to R3 250.00,

Counterfeit goods valued at R779.00 and counterfeit money amounting to R600.00, tobacco products (205 packets), one rifle, four firearms (handguns), drugs (nyaope) weighing 76.756 g, and dagga weighing 8.12 kg.

The suspects have already started appearing before different Magistrates’ Courts in the province.
