According to Department statement: Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene, today continued with the monitoring of infrastructure affected by the recent floods in Maruleng Municipality within the Mopani District.
Accompanied by the Mayor of Maruleng Municipality, Cllr Tsheko Musolwa, the MEC visited the Bismarck Bridge on road D3901, which has been seriously compromised, affecting movement and access to public and social amenities for surrounding villages.
The delegation also assessed road D1656 in Mica, where a bridge has similarly been damaged.
The Department has committed to rebuilding infrastructure destroyed by the floods, working together with municipalities and relevant entities as part of strengthening intergovernmental relations.
In the interim, Dikgerekgere teams will be deployed to affected areas to restore damaged infrastructure where possible, in order to re-establish connectivity.
Also in attendance were the Speaker of Maruleng Municipality, Cllr Blantina Raganya, and traditional leaders from the affected villages.
