Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo intended to clean up the Park and prevent crime

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, working alongside Pikitup and supporting partners, coordinated the transportation of waste to designated dumping facilities, and including the grass cutting, tree pruning and additional waste removal.

Cllr Amad further commended Bryanfern residents who joined the operation and collectively absorbed the costs associated with the supply and installation of fencing aimed at protecting the conservation area from further illegal access and environmental degradation.

Cllr Amad said “This level of community involvement demonstrates the power of active citizenship and shared responsibility.

“We commend Bryanfern residents for stepping forward to protect this important environmental asset and contributing resources towards securing the sanctuary for current and future generations.”

Cllr Amad further thanked all participating stakeholders, law enforcement agencies, residents and civic organisations for their collective commitment to reclaiming and protecting public environmental infrastructure.

Amad stated “Protecting our conservation spaces requires a united effort between government, law enforcement, civil society and local communities.

“We commend all entities involved for demonstrating active citizenship and a shared commitment to preserving Johannesburg’s natural heritage.”

The HISD Ward 104 operation is expected to continue until all works are concluded(Area is clened up).
