Mqanduli police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in tracing a suspect following the fatal shooting of a 71-year-old woman in Makhenkesi Township, Mankuntywana Street.
The incident occurred on Saturday, 17 January, between 19:00 and 20:00. It is alleged that an unknown man entered the house and went to the victim’s bedroom, where he fatally shot her in the upper body.
At the time of the incident, the elderly woman was with her 12-year-old granddaughter, who was not harmed during the shooting.
The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage, and police have opened a murder case for investigation.
