Limpopo Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements & Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) have warned the residents about possible rainfall damages

The Limpopo Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements & Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) wishes to alert members of the public that inclement weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds, are currently affecting several areas across the Province.

Preliminary reports indicate that the adverse weather has resulted in localized flooding, damage to infrastructure, and disruptions to essential services in some communities.

Low-lying areas, informal settlements, and regions near rivers and streams are particularly at risk.

Disaster Management teams, in collaboration with municipalities, emergency services, and other relevant stakeholders, have been activated and placed on high alert.

Assessments are underway to determine the full extent of the impact and to provide immediate assistance where required.
Residents are urged to:

  • Avoid crossing flooded roads and bridges
  • Refrain from travelling unless necessary
  • Secure loose objects and rooftops
  • Keep children away from swollen rivers and stormwater drains
  • Follow updates from official communication channels.
CoGHSTA appeals to community members to report emergencies or weather-related incidents to their local disaster management centres or emergency helplines.
  • We urge all residents of Limpopo to take weather warnings seriously and to prioritize their safety and that of their families.
  • Our disaster management teams are on standby and working with municipalities and traditional leaders to respond quickly where the need arises.
  • Community cooperation is critical during this period, and we call on everyone to remain alert and to follow guidance from authorities.
Further updates will be communicated as more information becomes available.
  • CoGHSTA remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents during this period.
